Music In The Schools

If tots are blowing train whistles and teachers are belting out “Petticoat Junction” then the friends of the Friends of Traditional Music are bringing music to the schools*.

This ever-changing crew of musicians and local professionals enjoys having the opportunity to show students that while the may choose other careers, making music can still be a fun and entertaining part of their lives.

*If you plan to attend any of the concerts, please remember to check in at the school office upon arriving. Thanks!

We’re Friends of Traditional Music. For decades, we’ve preserved and promoted American roots music for generations of South Dakotans. And as long as there’s a guitar string to pluck, a stand-up bass to slap and a tune to belt out, we’ll keep passing on the torch.
